After three long years, Sweet Home, the popular South Korean apocalyptic horror series, is returning to Netflix with its highly-anticipated second season, and the streamer has released a teaser trailer announcing its release date: December 1, 2023. Based on a South Korean webtoon with the same title written by Kim Carnby and illustrated by Hwang Young-chan, Sweet Home originally premiered on Netflix in December 2020 and it became the first South Korean series that ever reached Netflix's Top 10 chart in the U.S. Last June, Netflix officially confirmed that it plans to release two more seasons, although they didn't reveal more information since then.
The series follows a troubled teenager, Cha Hyun-soo, and his apartment neighbors trying to survive a disease that transforms humans into savage monsters. As horror took over the city, the residents of the Green Room were seen battling and surviving the chaos, and a few ended up dying in the first season.
What to Expect From Sweet Home 2
The teaser trailer shows that Sweet Home 2 appears to be a direct continuation from where the first season left off, as the video shows Hyun-soo bound to a cage and being transported to a mysterious facility. The upcoming season is expected to have a more chaotic storyline, so expect o see more fast-paced action and bloody horror scenes.
In an official press release, director Lee Eung-bok described the second season as ” a full-fledged apocalyptic drama.” He went on to say that, “While Season 1 portrayed tension and fear in the confined space of the Green Home, Season 2 will be set in an open space with the introduction of a whole new group of characters and monsters.”

With Song Kang's return as the lead of Sweet Home 2, other cast expected to return are Lee Jin-wook as Pyeon Sang-wook, Go Min-si as Lee Eun-yoo, Lee Si-young as Seo Yi-kyung, and Park Gyu-young as Yoon Ji-su. In addition to the returning cast, the sequel will also welcome newcomers, including Oh Jung-se, Yoo Oh-seon, Kim Mu-yeol, and Jin-young.
The first season of Sweet Home consisted of 10 episodes, so expect Sweet Home 2 to also have the same episode count. Sweet Home 3 is also in production, and it's expected to conclude the series.
