Star Wars: Skeleton Crew finally has an official release window. The new show starring Jude Law and Kerry Condon will be the final new Star Wars series to join Disney+'s 2024 lineup. Each new Star Wars series looks to make itself special in some way, with Skeleton Crew focusing on a younger generation of characters in a galaxy far, far away. While Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to release a trailer for Skeleton Crew yet, director Jon Watts has at least confirmed the show's release window.

As Collider reports, Jon Watts revealed during a CCXP interview that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will premiere on Disney+ around Christmas. The premiere will come just months after Star Wars: The Acolyte, which is set to premiere on June 4, 2024. Skeleton Crew will be the fourth Star Wars show to stream on Disney+ after the recently concluded Star Wars: The Bad Batch, this month's Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, and next month's Star Wars: The Acolyte.

What is the plot of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew?

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is confirmed to be set in 9 ABY (after the Battle of Yavin), so it takes place at roughly the same time as The Mandalorian, but it's unclear if Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin or Grogo will show up in the series. Its story centers on four children who make a shocking discovery on their home planet that leads them to get lost on a dangerous journey in a mysterious and unfamiliar galaxy. Not much is known about the plot at this time, and the show has yet to debut an official trailer, but during a recent interview with Variety, Kerry Gordon praised the young actors in the show, calling them "out of this world."

The show has been described as "more than just a kids show." Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy explained to Comicbook.com at last year's Star Wars Celebration how director Jon Watts approached her with the idea for Skeleton Crew: "Jon Watts came to me, very much wanting to do a sort of Goonies in Star Wars. Needless to say, I'm going to say yes. And so it's just evolved out of that kind of enthusiasm in wanting to tell stories in this space."

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Cast & Crew

Other than Law and Condon, the cast of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew include Cass Buggé, Michael C. Bradford, Tunde Abedimpe, M.J. Kang as the adults of the series; and Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Robert Timothy Smith, and Kyriana Kratter as the four children.

There are also several notable names involved in the series, including creator and writer Christopher Ford, who previously worked with Watts on Spider-Man: Homecoming. Myung John Wesner, who's known for her work in Hulu's Death and Other Details, who has writing credit on Skeleton Crew. The show will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Susan McNamara, Chris Buongiorno, David H. Venghaus, and Erin Mitchell along with Watts and Ford.
