At the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California today, the first official trailer and key art for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, the next live-action series from Lucasfilm and Disney+, has arrived, giving us our first look at the protagonists: Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), Neel (Robert Timothy Smith), KB (Kyriana Kratter) and the mysterious Jedi, Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law). There's also a droid named SM-33 (voiced by Nick Frost), the decrepit first mate of the Onyx Cinder. The cast also includes Kerry Condon and Tunde Adebimpe, who have undisclosed roles.

Set in the New Republic era of the Star Wars canon (the years after the Empire’s fall in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.), the new series centers on a crew of kids lost in a galaxy far, far away — as they try to find their way home. The trailer gives us a first look at the the space adventures of the four kids as they try to avoid the dangers of the strange galaxy, and the video concludes with them discovering that Law's character is a Jedi, after he uses the Force to levitate a key.

Skeleton Crew was created by Jon Watts, the director of the latest Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland, and his frequent collaborator Christopher Ford, who also serve as showrunners of the Disney+ series.

"At its core it's a story about wanting to explore a world that's bigger than your own," Watts told StarWars.com. "I think that's something that people can relate to, no matter how old you are."

"And setting a new group of characters off on their first adventure is fascinating, especially getting to see how they will grow over time," Ford added.
