Three years after Ubisoft announced that Massive Entertainment was developing a Star Wars game under license by Lucasfilm Games, that project has finally come to fruition. The long wait will soon be over as the first Star Wars video game to feature a fully open world now has a release date of August 30, 2024. And to excite fans of what’s to come, the game has also released its official story trailer, featuring the adventure of Kay Vess and Nix.

The Star Wars Outlaws trailer starts with Sliro, the leader of the Zerek Besh crime syndicate, which he runs from a mansion in Canto Bight. While talking to his people, he says they represent some of the most powerful criminal organizations in the Galaxy, calling the present-day the golden age for the Underworld. He continues that the Empire controls every corner of the Galaxy, as the preview shows events around them.
He then talks about how the Empire is distracted by the rebellion that won’t quit, allowing them to make millions of credits. The trailer then introduces Kay Vess, a young thief from Canto Bight. As she’s named the underworld’s favorite new scoundrel, she gets into a fight, followed by a scene with Jaylen Vrax, a gunrunner and master criminal known for running heists.
“We met at last,” he tells Kay. He then reveals that Zerek Besch is looking for her after crossing Sliro, who wants her gone. But she can change her destiny if she manages to rob his fortune to buy her freedom. The trailer then shows Han Solo’s iconic carbon-freezing, with Kay saying in front of him that her new job is a death wish. Despite the danger, she tells Jaylen she’s up for the challenge. From there, Kay begins her mission with the help of her merqaal best friend, Nix, calling it her last shot at freedom.
A new visual for Star Wars Outlaws has also been released. It features Kay and Nix at the center, ready to take some action, with Sliro beside them. Jaylen, ND-5, and Jabba the Hutt can be seen below, adding some mystery to Kay and Nix's upcoming adventure.
What is the gameplay of Star Wars Outlaws?
Set between the events of Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI- Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Outlaws will see the exploration of the planets across the galaxy and the journey of Kay Vess and her partner-in-crime Nix. Players can live the life of an outlaw, turn every situation into an epic fight using blasters, and face enemies with stealth and gadgets. There will also be high-reward missions from crime syndicates, letting the users steal valuable goods, infiltrate secret locations, and outwit enemies. They can also pilot their ship, the Trailblazer, and engage in thrilling dogfights with the Empire.

Star Wars Outlaws will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Ubisoft Connect.
