While fans wait for updates about Daisy Ridley's next Star Wars movie, tentatively titled Star Wars: New Jedi Order, the 32-year-old Rey Skywalker actress has stated that she's up to to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ridley has been one of the highlights of the latest Star Wars trilogy of movies, and it's been two years since her return as Rey was announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023. In addition to her recent Star Wars update, Ridley talked about her future career possibilities, and revealed that she's open to superhero roles if the opportunity presents itself.

While doing rounds promoting her new film, Cleaner, Ridley was asked about joining the MCU. Speaking to ComicBook, she said:

Look, I’m open to loads of stuff. I work with this amazing second AD called Matthew Sharp, and he texts me cause he’s doing Avengers, and he goes, ‘If they call.’ So I was like, ‘If they call, absolutely.’ I then of course love Batman, love The Penguin. I’m a fan of so many sorts of films. Yeah, I’m open to everything.

Back in 2021, when Olivia Wilde was still attached to direct a Spider-Woman film for Sony Pictures, Daisy Ridley was one of the names that was brought up in connection with the lead role of Jessica Drew. At that time, Ridley denied the rumors, but did express her interest in the superhero role.

In a separate interview with Collider, Daisy Ridley revealed that she's been "very involved" behind the camera of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's upcoming Star Wars: New Jedi Order film.

I certainly have been very involved. I’m involved in, well, not very involved, but I’m involved in as much as I know what’s going on, I know the story, I know what’s going on with the script, so I’m aware of all that. And I think what’s been really wonderful over the last few years is being more involved from the start to finish, really coming to set knowing this is the absolute best way we can tell this story. These are the best actors for the job. This is the best crew for the job. Having that confidence is so lovely. And it’s not that I didn’t have that before, but I’m much more cognizant of it now. So in that way, I’m looking forward to turning up, really knowing the ins and outs of what the journey has been, and we’re arriving at the absolute best place to tell this particular story.

George Nolfi (The Bourne Ultimatum) recently signed up to pen the script for the film. However, plot details for Star Wars: New Jedi Order are largely still being kept under wraps, but THR noted that the narrative is set "15 years" after the events of The Rise of the Skywalker. Ridley’s character, Rey Skywalker, will oversee a new class of Jedi knights.
