Voice artist and actor Cameron Monaghan has recently confirmed that Star Wars Jedi 3 is coming. Following 2019's Star Wars: Jedi: Fallen Order and its 2023 sequel, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, this will be the third game in the action-adventure series. Monaghan voiced the protagonist Cal Kestis in the two previous Star Wars Jedi games.
During his appearance at last week's Ocala Comic Con, Monaghan confirmed to the audience that he was "working on a third" Jedi Fallen Order game. "That's a big undertaking and there have been some conversations so far, but hopefully when all things and said and done we’ll be able to go in and make something really cool," he said during the panel. However, this is the extent he had to share about the the third game in the fan-favorite Star Wars videogame series.
While the news doesn't come from developer Respawn Entertainment or publisher Electronic Arts, Monaghan is a reliable source since he's the star of the successful series.
This confirmation comes just a few days after we learned that Stig Asmussen, the director of the acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor games, was leaving Respawn Entertainment and EA to "pursue other adventures".
"After careful thought and consideration, Stig Asmussen has decided to leave Respawn to pursue other adventures, and we wish him the best of luck," an spokesperson from EA said.
"Veteran Respawn leaders will be stepping up to guide the team as they continue their work on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor."
EA recently announced that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - which was released for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 in April - would be released on the previous-gen PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at some point in the near future.
The third Star Wars Jedi game will likely be released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The consoles of the next generation are not expected to release until 2027 or 2028, so while there's a good chance that the sequel will be available on those platforms, it's likely be released on the current generation's consoles first.
