An announcement trailer was released for the re-release, giving us a look at the remastered version of the fan-favorite game's diverse gameplay elements.

In the original Star Wars: Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles, there are five playable characters with up to four unlockable ones (depending on format), but the remastered version promises “13 newly unlocked playable characters” which Aspyr describes as “beyond the original line-up”, including the Staff Tusken Raider, Weequay, Ishi Tib, and the Rifle Droid.

All levels and secret characters will be unlocked from the beginning in the new version, and it will also feature two-player couch co-op and a new game plus mode. Players will also have the option to use classic controls or new, modern controls. Gameplay improvements include enhancements to environments and character models, as well as “smoother jumps, better balance and new main menu art”.

The Versus and Training modes from the Dreamcast version of Star Wars: Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles will in the remastered version. A new lightsaber toggle will also be added. The original version gave some characters the wrong color of lightsaber, and the new toggle will let players adjust if they wish. For instance, Mace Windu's lightsaber in the original game was blue; but now, players can change it to his movie-accurate color, which is purple.
