Today, the official website of Star Wars has announced Star Wars: Beyond Victory – A Mixed Reality Playset, a brand new mixed reality experience currently in development at Industrial Light & Magic and Lucasfilm, exclusively for Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets.
Set around the time of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Beyond Victory will introduce a brand new character and Podracer, Volo Bolus, and the game will let you team up with Sebulba, the champion pod-racing Dug introduced in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, for a "heart-pumping and engine-thrumping" mixed reality experience with an electrifying story and a variety of unique modes for gamers to enjoy.
Fans at Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 in Tokyo will be among the first to experience it this April.
Jose Perez III, Director of Star Wars: Beyond Victory - A Mixed Reality Playset, shared a comment about the unique mixed reality experience that the game will bring:
We're beyond excited to share an early look at this new experience with the incredible Star Wars community at Star Wars Celebration this year. Our goal at ILM has always been to find new and exciting ways for players to experience Star Wars stories. Focusing on mixed reality has opened several fascinating doors from an immersion standpoint and allows us to literally bring a galaxy far, far away right into the comfort of the players’ homes in a way that’s unlike anything we’ve done before.
Attendees at Star Wars Celebration Japan will also be able to pick up a copy of an original Marvel comic book that will delve into the Star Wars prequel story for the experience, and it will also be available as a giveaway at the ILM and Meta Quest booth during the event. You can check out the cover art for Marvel’s Star Wars: Beyond Victory by Phil Noto, written by Ethan Sacks, with interior art by Will Sliney, Steven Cummings, and Shogo Aoki below:
This won't be the only upcoming Star Wars game that will be featured at Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 next month. As the panel schedule of the event previously revealed, Bit Reactor will have a presentation for its upcoming Star Wars turn-based game during its dedicated panel. Additionally, the event will also give fans a chance to play demos for Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge and the virtual reality game Vader Immortal.
Star Wars Celebration 2025 attendees can find the ILM and Meta Quest activation at Hall 4, Booth #20-5 in the Makuhari Messe convention center on April 18 – 20.
