Since Star Wars: Ahsoka premiered on August 22, fans have been waiting for the highly anticipated reunion of Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) and Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson). Thankfully, Disney+ seemingly hinted when this much-awaited get-together will happen, that is, if this announcement has anything to go by.
Anakin and Ahsoka formed a great bond as a master and Padawan, as their personalities and qualities aligned well. Though this relationship has been tested, the two refuse to give up on each other. However, Ahsoka left the Jedi order after being accused of a crime she didn’t commit. But as she continues to fight for peace and justice in Ahsoka, fans are about to see a reunion between Ahsoka and Anakin, and Disney+ has hinted when it may happen.
Disney+ announced the release of the special Master & Apprentice: A Special Look at Ahsoka on Friday, September 8. As the title features the words “master and apprentice,” it may be referring to Anakin and Ahsoka, sparking speculations that it will serve as an introduction to Christensen’s return.
And as it will air before Episode 5’s release, many assume that Anakin’s appearance will finally happen in the said episode. It’s also good to note that this will be the last episode Dave Filoni directs, so a big reveal may happen here.
Dave Filoni’s Connection to Anakin and Ahsoka
It’s only reasonable that Filoni will direct Anakin and Ahsoka’s reunion. He’s largely responsible for featuring the role of Ahsoka in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. He, too, has been focused on putting Ahsoka and Anakin’s master and apprenticeship relationship in the spotlight in the two animated series.
Hence, he may do the same in Ahsoka. So, to prepare fans for what’s to come, especially the ones who haven’t seen the animated shows, Master & Apprentice will be a helpful guide before finally unveiling Christensen’s episode.
An Alleged Big Reveal in Star Wars: Ahsoka Episode 5
Meanwhile, Disney+ is seemingly promoting a big reveal in the upcoming Ahsoka Episode 5. In one of the series’ trailers released before the show debuted, Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson) talked about Anakin in an exchange with Ahsoka before the scene shifted to Christensen's cameo in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
In another preview, Baylan told Ahsoka Anakin “spoke highly” of her. And by the looks of it, these scenes may be featured in Ahsoka Episode 5. If it happens, it only means that Baylan and Ahsoka have been setting the groundwork for Anakin’s appearance.
Ahsoka Episode 5 will be released on September 12. As only four episodes are left in the series, fans will soon see Christensen's return as Anakin, and it’s only a matter of when and how.
