Netflix has released a new trailer for Squid Game Season 2, and unlike the previous trailers released for the highly-anticipated season, this one shares a sneak peek at the deadly new games that Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), a.k.a. Player 456, and the other players will play, and hopefully, survive. The first season of director Hwang Dong-hyuk's South Korean thriller series took the world by storm when it was released in September 2021, and now, the latest trailer for Season 2 shows that it's clearly setting up for even bigger stakes than ever before.
The new trailer shows Gi-hun returning to the sadistic competition but this time, he is not just trying to survive the games and win the big pot of cash; he is also trying to take down the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) and everyone behind the colorful deadly games. While the previous trailers confirmed the return of the Red Light, Green Light game from Season 1, this one also gives us a look at the new games, including one with a giant merry-go-round surrounded by doors and another game with rainbow circles on the ground. The new footages didn't elaborate the rules, so we'll have to wait to find out how they will play out. For now, you can try to figure them out by watching the new trailer below:
The new games will surely be problematic to Player 456, who doesn't know them, but that's already expected. Another footage shows the game masters escorting Gi-hun and it looks like there will be a showdown between him and the Front Man. The trailer also shares a glimpse of the police force that appear to be trying to infiltrate the arena so they could shut down the games, but it looks like they will have to survive their own "game" as well as we see an explosion hit some of them. It's already confirmed that Wi Ha-joon is set to reprise his role as the police offer Hwang Jun-ho, the brother of the mysterious Front Man (real name: Hwang In-ho), so we could also see the brothers face off again.
