Gamers can now experience the thrill of playing death-defying games in the globally successful Netflix show Squid Game without dying through the interactive VR game of the same name. Thankfully, players don’t have to wait much longer as the Squid Game VR experience is coming sooner than expected.
Despite being a Korean show, Squid Game dominated Netflix worldwide when it was released in September 2021. With its success, a second season was announced, followed by an upcoming reality show and a rumored English remake. Among these is the Squid Game VR game.
In collaboration with Netflix, Sandbox VR announced the new Squid Game VR experience earlier this year, and it now unveiled when fans can play this game. The company’s website revealed that the play would begin on September 29 at over 40 Sandbox VR locations around the world, while bookings are now open. It even launched a countdown to the game’s beginning.

What are the games included in Squid Game VR game?
The new Squid Game VR game lets players compete with their friends in several heart-pounding mini-games seen in the hit series itself. Of course, it includes the infamous Red Light, Green Light and Cross the Glass Bridge, among others, with additional new twists that expand on the Squid Game world.
After each game, Sandbox VR will give each player personalized highlight video reels captured while playing the games. Aside from their reactions, it also recaps how they play out their own Squid Game story.
“Our mission is to bring people closer together through world-class immersive experiences. What could be a more perfect fit than Squid Game, the most widely shared and discussed television series of the past years?” Sandbox VR founder/CEO Steve Zhao said in a statement. “It’s an amazing opportunity to partner with Netflix to provide these fans the chance to transport themselves into the world of the show.”

Will there be Squid Game Season 2?
Netflix officially announced the coming of Squid Game Season 2 in June 2022. But over a year after that major announcement, nothing has come to fruition yet. However, Tudum revealed in June the new cast members joining the series and the original stars who are about to reprise their roles.
Of course, it will see the return of Lee Jung Jae as the protagonist, Seong Gi-hun. It also announced that the series’ production would start later this year. As Jung-Jae claimed, the filming might take ten months, just like the first season, so fans might soon see Squid Game Season 2 hitting the small screens.
Fans aren’t just excited to see Squid Game Season 2. They, too, are looking forward to experiencing the show’s deadliest games—without putting their lives at risk, of course—in the upcoming Squid Game VR game.
