Solo Leveling has become a standout new anime series this year, and it’s easy to see why. Thanks to its massive fan base, the show built incredible hype before it premiered in January 2024. After meeting the fans’ expectations with its first season, a second season, titled Arise from the Shadow, was announced. Producer Sota Furuhashi teases what’s coming in Solo Leveling Season 2.
Voice actor Sally Amaki interviewed Furuhashi for Aniplex After Hours to discuss the producer’s work in anime. Aside from talking about Mashle: Magic and Muscles, which Furuhashi also produces, he also answered the question about how the anime adaptation of Chugong’s manhwa would “level up” in Solo Leveling Season 2.
“In Season 1, it focuses a lot on the main character’s development, and of course, that continues in Season 2,” he said. “But this time, we’ll also turn the spotlight on the supporting characters and fill in the story a bit more as we wrap things up.”
That said, Furuhashi teased fans could get a “360-degree” look at the world of Sung Jinwoo as more characters would take the fore. He then thanked everyone who watched the first season, though he also revealed that it would take some time before the second season's release. But despite the long wait, he promised they would feature higher-quality animation this time.
“I hope you’ll all keep that strong support coming while we work hard to make an even higher-quality season two together with the studio,” he continued. “I hope you’ll look forward to it.”
What to Expect from Solo Leveling Season 2
Solo Leveling Season 1 adapted the manhwa up to Chapter 45, covering the D-Rank Dungeon Arc (Episodes 1-3), Reawakening Arc (Episode 3), Instant Dungeon Arc (Episodes 3-4), Dungeon & Lizards Arc (Episodes 5-6), Dungeon & Prisoners Arc (Episodes 7-9), Yoo Jinho Raid Party Arc (Episode 10), and Job Change Arc (Episodes 11-12). They mostly centered on the beginning of Jinwoo’s journey and his transformation from the weakest E-Rank hunter to one of humanity’s greatest hunters.
So, the best is yet to come, and the action will begin in Solo Leveling Season 2. If the anime follows the same pace as the first season, it may adapt the manhwa’s Chapters 45-89, featuring the Red Gate Arc, Demon Castle Arc, Retesting Rank Arc, Hunters Guild Gate Arc, and Return to Demon Castle Arc.
If this happens, the mystery surrounding the System and its true purpose will be finally unveiled in the next season. It’s also expected to show the full extent of Jinwoo’s Shadow Monarch powers, as teased in the first season finale, and building his own army of the dead.
So, his strongest shadow soldiers, like Tank, Iron, and Tusk, may be finally introduced. If the second season has 24 episodes, Beru will also be seen alongside the Jeju Island Arc, which features the best fights in the entire series and puts Jinwoo’s newfound powers in the spotlight.
So far, there are no words on when Solo Leveling Season 2 will be released. But with these big teasers, fans can expect the new season to outshine the anime’s first set of episodes with the actions that are about to take place.
