Netflix's South Korean reality show Single's Inferno was released on the platform in December 2021, arriving like a breath of fresh air as the series captivated fans across the world. The hit series became the first Korean unscripted show to break through on Netflix, with all of its seasons making it to the streamer's Global Top 10 for Non-English TV seasons during their run.
If you're wondering what this South Korean reality show is about, Single's Inferno is a reality dating series that features a group of single men and women stranded on a deserted island (Inferno) together. The contestants are only given a few resources in the island, and the only way they can escape the island to spend a night at a luxury hotel (Paradise) is if they romantically match for date nights. The contestants are only allowed to reveal their age and profession in the hotel, and they participate in various physical games to win a chance to choose who they spend a night in "Paradise" with.
Single's Inferno Season 4 just wrapped on February 11, 2025, ending an installment that was highly-focused on one woman's love quadrangle. Now, that the fourth season is over, fans are already interested in the future of the show. Here's everything you need to know about Single's Inferno Season 5.
Did Netflix renew Single's Inferno for Season 5?
Yes! On February 12, just one day after the final two episodes of Single's Inferno Season 4 were released, Netflix officially renewed the reality series for a fifth season. According to the announcement, the fourth season, which released its first four episodes on January 14, 2025, had the biggest first-week viewership in the show's history. Since its premiere, it has also made it to Netflix's Global Top 10 for Non-English Series.
"At the core of Single’s Inferno are its bold and charismatic singles, who continue to hook audiences and fuel conversations every season," Netflix said in the announcement "With its movie-like twists, Season 4 kept audiences guessing and eager for more. Throughout its run, the show has constantly evolved, keeping viewers highly engaged with each new season."
Producers Kim Jae-won, Kim Jung-hyun, and Park Soo-ji shared a statement to the Korean media, expressing their gratitude du “Because of your support and love, we’ve made it to Season 5. We’re listening to our viewers and will return with an even better season.”
"We’ve made it to season 5 thanks to the immense love and support from our viewers," they said in the press release from Netflix. "Season 5 will be filled with new excitement and romance."
When is Single's Inferno Season 5 coming to Netflix?
Single's Inferno Season 5 may be released on Netflix sooner than expected. Before Netflix announced the show's renewal, Naver reported that Single's Inferno's production team had begun recruiting cast members for the fifth season. The report said that the fifth saeson is expected to film in June 2025, and release in the second half of this year.
If Single's Inferno Season 5 releases before the end of 2025, it would mark a return to the traditional release schedule of the series. After the first season premiered in December 2021, Seasons 2 and 3 began in December 2022 and 2023 respectively, and released new episodes weekly into the new year. The fourth season slightly broke the pattern, releasing in January instead of December, so it wouldn't be surprising if Netflix decides to release Single's Inferno Season 5 in January 2026.
However, at the time of this writing, Netflix hasn't officially confirmed a release window for the fifth season.
How many seasons will Single's Inferno have?
For now, Netflix only confirmed Single's Inferno Season 5, but the streamer didn't say that it would be the final season, so the future of the show will likely depend on the number of viewers the fifth season will get. As Time pointed out, a December 2024 Instagram post, showed that producer Kim Jae-won hoped that the series could go on for a full decade.
"Now that we’ve made it to season 4, we’re aiming for season 10 and hoping to become the longest-running dating show in Korea," Kim wrote.
Who are the panelists of Single's Inferno Season 5?
Single's Inferno is expected to keep the show's five panelists, which includes: rapper Hanhae, Season 2 contestant Dex (a.k.a. Kim Jin-young), comedian Hong Jin-kyung, actress Lee Da-hee, and Super Junior member, singer and musical actor Kyuhyun (a.k.a. Cho Kyu-hyun).
According to Time, the reaction segments of the panelists were filmed during the show's three-month editing process post-filming. If there would be any changes, Netflix would likely reveal them after the filming of the fifth season.
