A Shiba Inu Rooms TV anime is officially in production. The adaptation of Esu Omori's supernatural comedy manga was announced through the series' official website, which launched alongside a first announcement teaser from TMS Entertainment.

The 45-second teaser introduces Maison Shiba, the apartment building where high schooler Kori Momose moves in — and where room 101 already has a resident. That resident is Mu, an earthbound Shiba Inu spirit bound to the room, and the teaser leans into the odd-couple comedy of a girl who wanted to live alone ending up with a ghost dog for a roommate.

A teaser visual was released alongside the trailer, showing Mu front and center with a thoroughly unimpressed expression as a hand reaches in from the side and squishes the Shiba Inu spirit's cheek, all framed by a bright yellow border dotted with paw prints and text confirming the Summer 2027 premiere.

Two cast members have been announced. Niina Nakabayashi voices Kori Momose, the hardworking high school student who moves into Maison Shiba, while Mutsumi Tamura voices Mu, the Shiba Inu spirit haunting room 101.

TMS Entertainment is producing the anime. Osamu Yamasaki directs, and Rio handles the character designs.

What is Shiba Inu Rooms About?

Shiba Inu Rooms is a supernatural comedy based on Esu Omori's manga, serialized on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ since June 2024 after starting out as a one-shot. Eight volumes have been released in Japan, with the ninth due out on November 4, and VIZ Media publishes the series in English through MANGA Plus.

Kori Momose finds a 1LDK apartment at Maison Shiba renting for just 4,800 yen a month, and the catch is exactly what the price suggests — the place is haunted. Her room comes with Mu, an earthbound Shiba Inu spirit, and Kori's attempts to unbind Mu from room 101 and reclaim a quiet life alone keep colliding with the building's quirky neighbors and a growing number of Shiba Inus.
