Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos, the two-part anime movie and the latest of Naoko Takeuchi's popular magical girl franchise, is coming to Netflix on August 22, 2024. Now, the streaming company has released a new trailer to get anime fans hyped. Both parts were originally release in theaters in Japan on June 9 and June 30, 2023, respectively; and this will be the first time the film has streamed internationally after Netflix acquired the streaming rights for the anime film.
The trailer for Sailor Moon Cosmos features the titular heroine and the Sailor Guardians, along with the iconic ally Tuxedo Mask, in their battle against the powerful Sailor Galaxia, whose goal is to conquer Earth and rule the entire galaxy. Princess Kakyuu and Chibi Chibi also make an appearance in the trailer, and we also see members of the Sailor Starlights: Sailor Star Maker (Taiki), Sailor Star Healer (Yaten), and Sailor Star Fighter (Seiya).
Animation studios Toei Animation and Studio Deen produced the animation for the two-part Sailor Moon Cosmos film, which serves as an immediate sequel to the movie Sailor Moon Eternal, is part of the Sailor Moon Crystal reboot series, which is more faithful to Naoko Takeuchi's manga series than the anime Toei released between 1992 to 1997. Tomoya Takahashi directed the film, while Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Black Clover) wrote the screenplay, and Yasuharu Takanashi (Naruto, Reincarnated as a Sword, Fairy Tail) composed by the music.
Series creator Naoko Takeuchi serves as the film's chief supervisor, and the core cast members of Sailor Moon Crystal and Eternal all reprise their former roles. Additional cast includes Megumi Hayashibara as Sailor Galaxia, Marina Inoue as Sailor Star Fighter/Kou Seiya, Saori Hayami as Sailor Star Maker/Kou Taiki, Nana Mizuki as Princess Kakyu, Keiko Kitagawa as Sailor Cosmos, Kotono Mitsuishi as Chibi Chibi, and Ayane Sakura as Sailor Star Healer/Kou Yaten.
