After the conclusion of the first season of Saga of Tanya the Evil anime series and the movie, Saga of Tanya the Evil: The Movie, the popular anime series is set to return with Saga of Tanya The Evil Season 2. Ever since the Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 1 wrapped up in 2017, the anime has amassed an enthusiastic fan base.

Produced by NUT studio, the anime is based on the dark fantasy light novel series, known in Japan as Yōjo Senki (幼女戦記, lit. "The Military Chronicles of a Little Girl"), written by Carlo Zen and illustrated by Shinobu Shinotsuki. As of September 2023, Enterbrain had published fourteen volumes of the light novel series.

The protagonist of the series finds himself reincarnated in the body of a titular little girl in an alternate version of World War I. Once a cutthroat atheist salaryman, the being who would be reincarnated as Tanya gets a second chance at life (after being killed by one of the people he fired) simply for talking back to the one who claims to be God. He is reincarnated as a little blonde girl on an alternate Earth where magic exists.

What makes this 2017 isekai anime a compelling concept from its beginning is the culture shock and disparity between Tanya's appearance, ruthless mannerisms, and environment. However, the anime hasn't released any new content since the 2019 movie sequel, and now, fans are craving for more of Tanya's saga. Here's everything you need to know about Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2, including its first teaser trailer, release date speculation, possible plot details, and more.

Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 Trailer

Back in 2021, Kadokawa's official anime YouTube channel has released a minute-and-a-half teaser confirming that the second season of Saga of Tanya the Evil anime is coming. Unfortunately, the teaser didn't reveal any footages from the upcoming season as it only features Lieutenant General Hans von Zettour having a one-sided conversation about the current state of the Empire.

The second season of Saga of Tanya the Evil was officially announced in June 2021. Ever since the Season 2 teaser trailer was released, it had been two years since the follow-up film, which is set after the events of Season 1. Although the second season was confirmed with the release of the anime's first teaser, it only confirmed that "Season 2 is now aggressively in production". Unfortunately, no release date was attached with the announcement. Fans were hoping that it would premiere last year, but that was probably unrealistic considering the scale of the anime and the average production cycle for a series. So, when can we expect Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2?

While the production team of the anime hasn't shared anything concrete yet in terms of an official release date, it's likely that the second season of Saga of Tanya the Evil will premiere sometime in 2024. Unfortunately, they haven't shared any updates recently, but we will surely update you with more information once they're officially released.

Saga of Tanya The Evil Season 2 Possible Plot

The first season of Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 1 is based on the first three volumes of the light novel series, and the 2019 follow-up film is based on Volume 4. Thus, it's expected that Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 will begin to adapt Volume 5 of the light novel series. Fans will likely tsee Tanya and Mary Sioux clash in the second season.

However, because of Tanya's actions, Mary had lost her family in the far, so expect the two of them come face-to-face with a lot of intense action and scheming throughout Season 2. Tanya, who's an atheist who doesn't believe in the existence of a god, will be going up against Mary, who's a strong believer in God or the Creator. Expect the second season to be full of thrills.
