Despite only being revealed for the first time on March 31, Jagex has launched its open world survival crafting game, RuneScape: Dragonwilds, into early access. Ahead of its launch, a developer update livestream was schedule to reveal more details on the game, including its release date, but gamers won't need to wait any longer. RuneScape: Dragonwilds is live right now in early access, meaning you can step into the next chapter of Gielinor’s ongoing saga today.
In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, you are part of a group of misfits that have been shipwrecked in Ashenfall - a forgotten continent on Gielinor (the world where RuneScape is primarily set), where you can use magic and level up skills in order to carve out a life for yourself in the wilds teeming with lush green foliage, exotic fauna, and deadly dragons.
"Only by mastering survival and uncovering ancient secrets can you hope to slay the Dragon Queen—alone or with allies," teased the description on the official trailer, which you can watch below:
As what you'd expect from a game set in the RuneScape universe, whether you play solo or along with three players, you'll be able to farm runes, and the skills and progression system will let you unlock new skills, crafting abilities and recipes necessary for your survival. Players will be able to use Anima, the living energy of the universe, source of all magic and what the Wilder Gods consume to sustain their eggs.

Jagex's executive producer, Jesse America, talked about the development team's efforts in developing "an entirely new type of Runescape experience", while expressing their willingness to listen to the community's feedback:
We’ve been working hard to develop an entirely new type of RuneScape experience that ignites fans’ passion, creativity and love for questing, and provide them with an all-new RuneScape adventure to discover. And this is just the start of our development journey. Throughout Early Access, we’ll be updating the game regularly with new content and features, while listening closely to the community to deliver an iconic open world survival crafting game that is loved equally by our biggest RuneScape fans and new players alike.
How to Play RuneScape: Dragonwilds with Other Players
If you want to play RuneScape: Dragonwilds online with your friends, you will need to link your Epic Games account to your Steam account. Therefore, you will need an Epic account for co-op gameplay with other players.
“This title uses Epic Account Services Basic Profile to connect players across platforms,” the notification on Dragonwilds reads. “By pressing ‘continue with Epic Games,’ you accept Epic Account Services Terms and Conditions.
This mandatory linking will probably dissuade some players, but you can still play Dragonwilds solo.
