Update: Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 5 is now streaming on Crunchyroll!
Earlier this month, the anime adaptation of Tappei Nagatsuki's Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- light novel series returned, and this week, the Attack Arc of the isekai anime series will continue with the release of Episode 5, which is titled A Dark Torrent. In the previous episode, Natsuki Subaru and his team outlined their counteroffensive strategy against the Witch's Cult after their overwhelming assault on the city of Priestella. It also featured a brief look at Emilia's situation after she was abducted by the Sin Archbishop of Greed, Regulus Corneas.
Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 5 is expected to continue Emilia's rough situation as she remains captive under Regulus Corneas in an unknown location. Clearly, the intentions of Regulus are nefarious, raising concerns about the safety of Emilia. We can also expect Subaru, Crusch, and Julius's conflicts to escalate. Crusch will fight Roy Alphard, the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, and we can expect the hero to counter Roy's attacks while trying to save the inhabitants of Priestella.

Seeing that Emilia doesn't understand what he's being asked, Regulus's eyes sparkle with delight as he tells her that she is the ideal maiden he has always imagined. Confused, Emilia asks about Regulus from the woman known as Number 184, who has brought her a change of clothes. Subaru, who had been fighting Roy with Crusch on the roof of the City Hall, entrusts the battle to Julius and rushes to the Meteor, which is being used for broadcasting. There he finds the Black Dragon and a hostage girl with her hands tied behind her back.

Kazue Ootsuki is directing Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 5, with a script written by Eiji Umehara and storyboard by Susumu Nishizawa. Kenji Terao and Hitomi Miura are the fifth episode's animation directors. Studio White Fox is producing the animation of Re:Zero Season 3. The opening theme song is titled Reweave, performed by Konomi Suzuki; the ending theme song NUX LOX, is performed by MYTH & ROID ED.
Where to Watch Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 5
New episodes of Re:Zero Season 3 will air every Wednesday from October 2, 2024, and they will be available to stream on Crunchyroll as they air in Japan. Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 5 was released on October 30, 2024 at 7:30 AM Pacific/10:30 AM Eastern (3:30 PM BST in the UK). Season 3 has a total of 16 episodes split into two cours, so we can expect three more new episodes this Fall 2024 anime season, while the remaining eight episodes are expected to release in the Winter 2025 anime season.
What is Re:Zero Season 3 about?
Re:Zero-Starting Life in Another World- (Japanese: Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu) anime is based on the KADOKAWA-published light novels written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Ootsuka. The third season will consist of 16 episodes, adapting the Attack arc and Coutnerattack arc with 8 episodes each. The Counterattack arc is set to premiere on February 5, 2025.

A year has passed since the liberation of “The sanctuary”, where Subaru Natsuki defeated Elsa and fulfilled his contract with Beatrice in the battle against the Great Rabbits. Emilia camp was united as they faced the royal election, and Subaru Natsuki was living a fulfilling life, but the peace and quiet came to an end with a single letter delivered by a messenger. The letter was from Anastasia, one of the candidates for the royal selection, to invite Emilia to the Watergate City of Priestella, one of the five largest cities in Lugunica. Accepting the invitation, Subaru and his party set off for Priestella, where a variety of reunions awaited them. One unexpected, one unintended, and one to come. The stirrings of malice writhing beneath the surface of the water and an unprecedented crisis loom over them. Once again, the boy faces a cruel fate.
