Just as Otto was about to be devoured by Lye, it was Beatrice—who had awakened—who rescued him in the nick of time. Lye mocks them, weaving together Rem’s words from the “memories” he once consumed. Beatrice and Otto, realizing the danger, vow that they must not let this monster meet Subaru. However, without Subaru present, Beatrice has only five spells left she can cast. She crushes magic stones one after another, unleashing powerful magic, but none land a decisive blow. Meanwhile, Lye’s Authority begins consuming the members of the “White Dragon’s Scales.”
