As part of the celebration of the seventh anniversary of Reiji Miyajima’s Rent-a-Girlfriend manga series today, the series has announced that the TV anime adaptation will return for a fourth season in 2025. The DMM Pictures YouTube channel released a special announcement video confirming its renewal while teasing the Hawaiian trip for Kazuya, Chizuru, and the rest of the group. Miyajima also illustrated a celebratory visual featuring the romantic comedy's two leads, with Chizuru holding up to four fingers.
The special video confirms that Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4 will adapt the Hawaii Trip story arc of Miyajima's manga. More details on the fourth season's premiere date and staff details will be revealed at a later date. You can check out the celebratory visual from Miyajima below:
Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 3 premiered in Japan on July 7, 2023 and ran until September 30, 2023. Une Shinya (Assistant director of Teasing Master Takagi-san) took over as director for the third season instead of the previous seasons’ Kazuomi Koga. TMS Entertainment produced the animation for the first three seasons.
The first season aired in July 2020, and the second aired in July 2022.

What is Rent-a-Girlfriend about?
Reiji Miyajima’s original Rent-a-Girlfriend (abbreviated as Kanokari) manga series has been serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine since July 12, 2017, and as of today, 36 volumes have been released so far. Kodansha USA holds the English license for the manga series, which also spawned a live-action television drama adaptation that aired from July to September 2022.
Crunchyroll, which streams the series, shared the following plot description for Rent-a-Girlfriend:
Kinoshita Kazuya is a 20-year-old failure of a college student. He managed to kiss his girlfriend once, but was dumped after a month. "Ugh... Damn it. I never want to go through that again." Completely spiteful, Kazuya uses a certain method to date a girl. He goes to their meeting place and suddenly hears, "You're Kazuya-kun, right?" A beautiful girl brushing her long, black hair behind her ear was there, smiling at him. Her name was Mizuhara Chizuru. Something real is born after just a single rental! A reckless rom-com filled with love and excitement is about to begin!
