Record of Ragnarok Season 3 Anime Announced With Teaser & Visual

Record of Ragnarok III staff details were also revealed along with the announcement.

Record of Ragnarok, the hit anime series based on the Dark Fantasy/Martial Arts manga created by Azychika (art), Shinya Umemura (story), and Takumi Fukui (story structure), is officially getting a third season. A first teaser and key visual for Record of Ragnarok Season 3 were also revealed along with the announcement from the Warner Bros. Japan Anime Production department, and the news was amplified by Netflix, which is the streaming home of the anime series.

Manga artist Azychika shared a celebratory illustration following the Record of Ragnarok Season 3 announcement:

“I’m so grateful that the third season of the anime is being produced,” said Umemura in a statement.  “This is all thanks to everyone’s support — thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can’t wait to see how that one move by Nikola Tesla appears on screen! I hope everyone will continue to watch Record of Ragnarok!”

Fuuki also added a comment: “Much time has passed since the explosive ending to the second season. Thanks to the support of our fans, the third season is finally here! How will that fiery battle we depicted in the comic be recreated? How will certain moves and scenes come to life on screen? Plus, familiar characters will cross paths again. I can’t wait for everyone to see the continuation of the battle between gods and humanity!”

Record of Ragnarok III will be directed by Koichi Hatsumi (Tokyo Revengers) while Yasuyuki Muto (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash) will be the main writer. Youko Tanabe (Handyman Saitou in Another World) and Hisashi Kawashima (Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream) are handling the character designs, and Yasuharu Takanashi (Naruto) is composing music for the MARU Animation x Yumeta Company production.

What is Record of Ragnarok Season 3 about?

Record of Ragnarok anime began in Coamix's Monthly Comic Zenon magazine in November 2017. The series won a bunch of manga awards, including the National Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics of 2019, the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2019 for male readers, and the 2nd Manga News Prize. Viz Media licensed the series in English, and here's an official description for Record of Ragnarok Season 3:

The saga continues with 13 one-on-one battles for the survival of humanity, pitting gods against humans from across the world. Witness the fateful seventh battle: the final fight to break the 3-3 tie between the gods and humans. Blood flows and fists fly in these intense battles of strong convictions!

Record of Ragnarok was adapted as an original net animation (ONA) by Graphinica and released on Netflix in June 2021; Season 2 of the aniem by Graphinica and Yumeta Company was released in January 2023. Season 3 will be released on Netflix, but an exact release date hasn't been announced yet.
