Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire saw Kora (Sofia Boutella) and Gunnar (Michiel Huisman) working together as farmers on the moon of Veldt. Kora had her eyes on Gunnar, but the two didn’t get a chance to blossom a romance after the Imperium found its way to Veldt, led by Admiral Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein), eventually leading to a war to free its people. As they return in Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, Boutella teases a romantic relationship between her character and Gunnar will finally begin.
If A Child of Fire hinted at the potential romance between Kora and Gunnar, The Scargiver would finally explore their close relationship. Boutella said in an interview with The Direct that their love will now come together, and viewers will witness it as soon as the movie begins.
“That dynamic, I think, in the film, in such a war movie, it's such a nice element to have, to have that birth of that love coming together,” she said. “And for it to be at the beginning of movie number two is quite nice. So, it was a nice color to have in this film.”
Boutella also had nothing but good words for Huisman. The two worked hard to build a dynamic that would continuously be seen in The Scargiver. And as she called the actor easygoing, everything between them worked out perfectly.
“Michiel is someone who's really gentle and kind and sweet and peaceful. And so, it was really just an easy conversation between us,” she continued. “He's very chill about everything. There was just such peace between us, and I absolutely loved working with him.”

Sofia Boutella Reveals One Major Change in Kora in Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver
In the same interview, Boutella revealed Kora would have one major change in The Scargiver. If Kora used to be aloof and guarded in The Child of Fire, she’s about to open herself in the second movie. And if there’s something that she wants to happen, it’s simply to love and be loved.
“So, when you meet Kora in Part One, she's very closed off. And I think she's very guarded. And in Part Two, she has started to open up to others,” she explained. “The first thing she ever says in the film, one of the first thing she ever says is to truly love and be loved.”
As a child, Kora witnessed her world being destroyed by Balisarius. Though the tyrant spared her, he took her in, named her Arthelais, and trained her to fight for the Motherworld. As these things made her tough, the actress revealed that Kora wasn’t sure if she knew how to love, so she would start to open up her heart.
“She doesn't think that it’s not something that she knows how to do, and she was taught that love was a weakness,” Boutella continued. “And I think when movie two starts, it's already something that she started to do; she's opened up her heart to the world and to others.”
What is Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver about?
The Scargiver will continue Kora’s journey and her fight against the Motherworld. She will still get the help of her fellow surviving warriors. If their sacrifice in the first movie weren’t enough, they would still give everything they had and fight alongside the people of Veldt. Together, they will defend the town that the Imperium eyes to conquer. But aside from the enemies, they also have to face the horror of their pasts that will reveal the real reason behind their intention to fight.
