HIDIVE has announced that it will be streaming Plus-Sized Elf anime as part of the streaming platform's Summer 2024 lineup. Based on the comedy fantasy manga titled Elf-san wa Yaserarenai by Synecdoche, Plus-Sized Elf anime will be a HIDIVE exclusive, and it's scheduled to premiere in July 2024. HIDIVE also shared other notes on the anime's story that's centered on an elf who gained an excessive amount of weight during her stay in the human world.
Studio Elias will be in charge of Plus-Sized Elf's animation. Elias, which previously lent a hand on anime projects such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Blue Lock, Food Wars!, and Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon, but the studio is taking center stage for the first time with Plus-Sized Elf anime. The titular overweight elf, Erufuda, is being voiced by Ayaso Ito, who's known for playing Arisa Ichigaya in the band-based anime series BanG Dream!, and Kaoruko Hanayagi in the media franchise Revue Starlight.
The other cast revealed are Takahide Ishii as Tomoatsu Naoe, Rena Hasegawa as Kuroeda, and Ayaka Fukuhara as Olga. Plus-Sized anime is being directed by Toshikatsu Tokoro (Soul Link), and Yuuki Takabayashi (We Love Rice) is in charge of the series composition while Katsuyuki Sato (Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!) is working on character designs.

What is Plus-Sized Elf about?
Synecdoche's Elf-san wa Yaserarenai manga series was originally serialized on Wani Books' Comic Gum website from 2016 to 2021, with a total of 47 chapters, compiled into 8 tankōbon volumes. A sequel series, titled Plus-Sized Elf: Second Helping! (Japanese: Shin Erufu-san wa Yaserarenai), is currently being serialized in Akita Shoten's monthly seinen magazine, Dokodemo Young Champion. The first volume of the sequel was published in 2022.
Seven Seas Entertainment, which licensed the manga in English, shared the following plot description:
Naoe-kun, a massage therapist, is about to head home for the day when he’s saddled with a rather strange patient. This lovely lady has emerald eyes, pointy ears, and grew up in the forest–everything about her screams “elf,” except for one thing: her bodacious body. It turns out she left her world but loves junk food in this one, and now her obsession has caught up with her. Can Naoe-kun help this lovable elf girl lose the weight–and keep it off?
