Phantom Blade Zero has wasted no time making its mark, racing to a major sales milestone in its first three days on sale. The wuxia action RPG from Chinese developer S-GAME launched digitally on October 29, and players have turned out in force for its high-speed kung fu combat.
Developer S-GAME announced that total sales have surpassed four million units in just 72 hours. The figure covers the game's PlayStation 5 version and its PC release on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The milestone is a major result for a brand-new franchise with no earlier games to build on. It also lands before any physical release, meaning every copy counted so far was sold digitally.
Players take on the role of Soul, an assassin framed for the death of his master and left with a ruined heart. With only 66 days left to live, he fights through assassins and conspiracies to uncover the truth behind his condemnation, on a journey threaded through love, hate and a search for what it means to have a heart.
Alone and hunted by his former comrades, Soul moves through a world where every rumor and whisper points toward a larger mystery. Piecing together the web of intrigue and lies around him is as much a part of the journey as the fighting itself.
S-GAME calls the game's style Kungfupunk, a blend of classic wuxia storytelling, fantasy and folk horror inspired by the golden age of Hong Kong action films. Ancient tradition meets machinery and smoke in its world, with shifting realities and beings of higher power waiting along the way.
Combat leans hard into that film heritage, with fight choreography captured through motion capture drawn from authentic martial arts techniques. Soul can wield more than 30 weapons, mixing and matching over 20 unique Phantom Edges to suit different playstyles. Every strike and stance is designed to read like a scene from a martial arts film.
Defeated enemies also give up their weapons and signature techniques, steadily growing Soul's arsenal across the campaign. The game is built in Unreal Engine 5, pairing its cinematic swordplay with a world of shifting loyalties and silent blades.
The game first turned heads when it was revealed during a PlayStation showcase in 2023, where its blistering combat immediately stood out. Years of anticipation followed, and the launch numbers suggest that long wait built real demand.
A physical edition of Phantom Blade Zero is due out for PlayStation 5 in 2027, giving the game a second wave after its digital-only debut. For now, its first 72 hours mark a breakout debut that few new franchises manage.
