A new rival has stepped into the divorce arena, and he arrives with a law firm, a loyal online following and no intention of settling for second place. Park Hae-jin makes his first appearance in character as Park Tae-soo in the newly released stills for SBS's Good Partner 2, the season's newly added attorney.
The new season once again follows Cha Eun-kyung, played by Jang Na-ra, a star lawyer for whom divorce is a calling. This time, she becomes partners with Kang Hye-sung, played by Kim Hye-yoon, an experienced lawyer who is deeply serious about divorce cases.
SBS has shared the first stills of Park Tae-soo, the lead attorney of Tae-soo Law Firm, who is aiming for the very top of the divorce field. Park Tae-soo built his name through his YouTube channel, which boasts 200,000 subscribers, and he pairs that public profile with sharp business insight.
That mix shapes the way Park Tae-soo works with the people who come to his firm. In one still, he sits across from a client in consultation with a serious expression, drawing people in with his confidence and gentle smile. His guiding principle is that lawyers are there to serve their customers, so a client's gain always comes first for him. With a sharp gaze, he studies what each client wants in order to secure the strongest possible result.
Another still places Park Tae-soo inside the courtroom, where a different side of the character takes over. He is a lawyer who boldly goes on the offensive when victory and gain are on the line, setting up a fierce rivalry with Cha Eun-kyung for the top position.
Park Hae-jin explained that joining a proven hit made his decision an easy one. "I heard that Season 2 was being produced for a project I enjoyed watching, and I received a great offer while anticipating, so I readily accepted."
The actor also admitted that stepping into an established series brought its own weight. "There was pressure of being added as a new character in a project where Season 1 was a hit, but the character of Tae Soo is interesting, so I chose it thinking I can show a new side."
Park Hae-jin described his character as the season's most down-to-earth figure. "Park Tae Soo is the most practical character in 'Good Partner 2.' A lawyer is not only a judicial officer but also an entrepreneur, and Tae Soo also works as a YouTuber."
"He is a character who makes the right choices in a generation of self-promotion."
That practical streak is also meant to keep the season from growing too heavy. "Tae Soo is like a breathing hole which relieves tension amidst a flow that could become heavy."
"I seeked to portray a relatively light character, and I worked hard to portray a humane and comfortable side. His cute and playful nature will be Tae Soo's charming point."
Behind the new rivalry, the season keeps the creative team that built the original. Good Partner 2 is written by Choi Yu-na, a divorce specialist lawyer, and directed by Seo Min-jung, while Pyo Ji-hoon also returns as junior lawyer Jeon Eun-ho.
Good Partner 2 premieres on November 20 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS. International viewers can watch Good Partner 2 on Viki.
