While Grand Theft Auto fans are waiting for the arrival of the second GTA 6 trailer, they've been relying on leaks and rumors in hopes to find out more details about the highly-anticipated game. For the most part, the leaks have fans more excited but one report recently made them worried that GTA 6 won't just run at 60 FPS on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but it won't run at 60 FPS on the rumored PS5 Pro either.

A recent leak from a reliable YouTube source, Moore's Law is Dead, shared details about a console that's far superior than the base PS5 in certain departments, but not much better in other departments. Based on the specs leaked, it looks like the PS5 Pro will not be a major upgrade, which could be concerning when GTA 6 releases next year.

GTA 6 is expected to be a technically demanding game, and it's going to have to run at 60 FPS to for it to feature incredible details of its vast open world. PlayStation fans were hopeful that the rumored PS5 Pro would be able to provide the specs to run 60 FPS, but now some fans are worried about how the aforementioned leak specs will not be able to deliver what they're hoping for.

According to a recent report from Red Gaming Tech on X, we now know the PS5 Pro CPU clocks, so this means that if GTA 6 is not able to hit 60 FPS on the base PS5 due to CPU bottleneck, it's unlikely that the PS5 Pro will run the game at 60 FPS. Additionally, Red Gaming Tech also noted that the new console seems designed to make better use of Ray Tracing. This means that if you're the type of gamer who prioritizes graphics over performance on PS5, then you're going to like what the PS5 Pro will provide. Of course, if you care a lot about the game's performance, you might not be happy with the upgraded console.

Although this is considered a rumor for now, the speculations about PS5 Pro have been backed by reliable sources, so it's safe to assume that these details are legit. Despite this, the speculation should still be taken with a grain of salt until PlayStation officially confirms the PS5 Pro and reveals its specs.

Is the PS5 Pro coming this year?

PlayStation hasn't yet announced anything about a PS5 Pro, but based on when PlayStation launched PS4 Pro in the last generation and how the PS5 is currently said to be in the second half of its lifespan, analysts believe that it's reasonable for the PS5 Pro to launch this year or sometime in the near future.

According to analysts who who were interviewed CNBC, the PS5 Pro will likely be released later this year, ahead of GTA 6's launch next year. This would be in order to boost the interest in the new console ahead of the game's highly-anticipated launch.

“There seems to be a broad consensus in the game industry that Sony is indeed preparing a launch of a PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024,” Serkan Toto, CEO of games consultancy company Kantan Games, told CNBC. “And Sony will want to make sure to have a great piece of hardware ready when GTA VI hits in 2025, a launch that will be a shot in the arm for the entire gaming industry.”
