Netflix has released the first official teaser trailer and poster for The Trunk, an upcoming South Korean mystery thriller starring Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo. Based on Kim Ryeo-ryeong’s novel of the same title, the story of The Trunk follows a secretive marriage service accompanied by a mysterious trunk. The series, which Netflix describes as a "high-class mystery melodrama", is directed by Kim Kyu-tae (Our Blues, It’s Okay, That’s Love) and written by Park Eun-young (Hwarang).
The story features Noh In-ji (Seo Hyun Jin), an employee at NM (New Marriage) who finds herself deeply alone despite her work of living with a “contract husband” every year, and Han Jeong-won (Gong Yoo), who enters into this mysterious contract marriage in an ironic attempt to save his previous marriage. Netflix went on to say that The Trunk "offers a glimpse into the series’ exploration of the complex emotions of characters involved in the “marriage” — love, compassion, obsession, desire, loneliness, and emptiness — and portrays the various depths of their relationships."
The first teaser trailer for The Trunk introduces the "contract couple" trying to get through a loveless marriage, guided by a manual.
