Netflix has dropped its live-action adaptation of One Piece to critical success and positive response. That said, it’s only natural that fans will be clamoring for a second season, and it looks like it may soon happen. The series’ producers have teased that One Piece Season 2 scripts are now done, and it may air quickly after the writers’ strikes end.
One Piece has defied the fears that its live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece of the same name will fail like the other anime adaptations seen in Hollywood. The series has received good reviews and positive receptions thanks to its great storyline, visuals, and actors’ performance. With this success, there are now questions about when Netflix will renew the series and when One Piece Season 2 will come.
In an interview with Variety, Marty Adelstein, CEO of Tomorrow Studios, which produces One Piece with Oda and Shueisha, revealed they have the second season’s “scripts ready.” However, there may be a problem with the new season’s production, especially with the writers’ strike ongoing.
One Piece Season 2’s filming can’t begin until the SAG-AFTRA strike and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have come up with a deal to resolve their issues. If this finally happens and the film and TV shows’ productions continue, Tomorrow Studios president Becky Clements said One Piece Season 2 might be released as early as 2024.
“Realistically, hopefully, a year away if we move very quickly, and that is a possibility,” she explained. “Somewhere between a year and 18 months, we could be ready for air.”

Will Netflix renew One Piece for a second season?
Netflix has yet to announce a second season renewal for One Piece. But according to Clements, all signs point to the possibility of it. She revealed the streamer is probably keeping it “close to the vest until post-launch.”
Clements explained that the service may have seen One Piece’s success with its support of the show. “We expected it to be number one, and we sensed their research and algorithms probably saw the possibility for that,” she added.
They are even told that they have exceeded the expectations. Hence, Adelstein believed Netflix is still analyzing the various situations, like how many episodes it will do and if it will break them up before it officially announces a renewal. For him, the streaming giant may figure things out this week.
“I suspect we’ll hear from them in the next week to two weeks,” he continued. “There seems to be a big impetus to keep this going and to come up with a long-term strategy. So, we’re just waiting for that.”
By the looks of it, there’s a big chance fans may see One Piece Season 2. And with Tomorrow Studios’ revelations, it may only be a matter of time before the renewal happens.
