The One Piece live-action adaptation will very soon be coming to Netflix, and anime fans are super hyped about it. After a lot of waiting, the live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga will officially go live this August on Netflix. Through this adaptation, fans will finally get to see how the manga’s world would look in real life.
Owing to One Piece Day, an event that was recently held in Japan, we got to know many exciting updates. During the event, fans also received many gifts in the form of anime teasers as well as merchandise, and Netflix’s One Piece was also shown on stage with a brand-new trailer. Not only this, but the event also featured plenty of props from the show, and that is where fans saw Luffy’s Devil Fruit for the very first time, which is massive.
As can be seen from the tweet above, the Gomu Gomu fruit is similar to the one we saw before in the anime. The Devil Fruit is massive and also consists of tons of double-ended swirls on it. The Gomu Gomu fruit is painted a metallic purple and looks pretty tasty, so now we finally have an explanation as to why the Straw Hat captain couldn’t help himself when he was a kid.
What is Luffy's Devil Fruit?
Luffy's devil fruit, Gomu Gomu no Mi, is a paramecia type that allows the protagaonist to become a man of rubber. The person who consumes the fruit gains the ability to stretch and retract their body parts as if they were actually made up of rubber. Moreover, the user also becomes immune to lightning-based attacks as their body literally functions as an insulator.
Luffy ate this Devil Fruit when he was only a child, which eventually gave him the stretchy powers we are all so aware of. We have already gotten a look at Luffy’s powers in the promos of Netflix’s One Piece. We can’t wait to see how the live-action adaptation of One Piece turns out and if it's as good as the One Piece anime and manga. You can read its official synopsis below:
If you feel like watching the One Piece anime before the live-action adaptation releases, you can binge-watch the series on both Netflix and Crunchyroll. On the other hand, Netflix’s One Piece live-action adaptation is set to release on August 31, 2023.
