After releasing The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Part 2 earlier this month, Netflix has renewed the series for a third season. The streamer officially announces the coming of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3, teasing the return of Mickey Haller with more courtroom stories.
Based on The Lincoln Lawyer book series by Michael Connelly, the show has proven to be one of the most successful series on Netflix. In fact, its early renewal speaks volumes about it. It has given Connelly’s novels a different take that makes viewers understand his stories despite not reading his books.
Netflix has announced the show’s third-season renewal on Tudum. In a statement from showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, they said the show’s return resulted from the audience’s great response that allowed them to visit Connelly’s universe again.
“The audience response to the show has been so gratifying and wonderful, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to dive back into Michael Connelly’s universe and bring Mickey Haller and his world to the screen again,” they said.
What is The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 about?
According to Netflix, The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 will be based on The Gods of Guilt, the fifth book in The Lincoln Lawyer series. Here, Haller will take the case of a digital pimp named Andre La Cosse, who’s been accused of murdering Gloria Dayton. Surprisingly, Dayton happens to be Haller's friend.
Connelly’s signature character, Harry Bosh, appears in the fifth book, though he doesn’t play any major role. However, it remains to be seen if the same thing will be adapted into the series. So, why is the book titled The Gods of Guilt? Haller describes the jury members as “gods of guilt,” and the third season will probably reveal why.
Who are the returning stars in The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3?
Of course, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will return to The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 to reprise his role as Mickey Haller. He will be joined by Becki Newton as Lorna, Jazz Raycole as Izzy, Angus Sampson as Cisco, and Yaya DaCosta as Andrea Freemann.
Sadly, Neve Campbell is not included on the list of returning stars after her character, Maggie, accepted a new job in a different city in the previous season finale. Maggie is also not part of Connelly’s fifth book, though sources told The Hollywood Reporter the door will always be open for her return in future seasons.
Netflix has not revealed when The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 will be released. With the SAG-AFTRA strike ongoing, it may take some time before its production begins. But what matters most is that the show will return with more legal drama and an epic murder case.
