Just when we thought Arisu and his friends had escaped the twisted world of Borderland, the games were not yet over. Netflix has officially announced the coming of Alice in Borderland Season 3. As the previous season ended with the Joker card, it teased who would be the next boss Arisu and the gang would face.
Based on the Japanese suspense manga of the same name by Haro Aso, the series follows the story of Arisu, a gamer who gets transported to a dystopian version of Tokyo, Japan, with his friends. His group and the other people must complete the most dangerous and sadistic games to stay alive in this ridiculous world. Netflix adapted the manga into a live-action TV series starting in December 2020. And with two successful seasons in tow, Alice in Borderland Season 3 is probably posed to another great success.
After posting a visual of playing cards, the streamer first teased the new season’s renewal. Of course, fans are quick to think that it might have a connection to the series’ third season announcement. And true enough, Netflix officially announced Alice in Borderland Season 3.
“Netflix officially confirms the much-awaited renewal of its global smash hit series, Alice in Borderland,” the announcement reads.
Who are the returning characters in Alice in Borderland Season 3?
Netflix has also confirmed that Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya will reprise their roles as Arisu and Usagi in Alice in Borderland Season 3. This time, fans are about to witness the evolution of their characters as they return to the sinister world of Borderland. Shinsuke Sato will also return to direct the new season.

What will Alice in Borderland Season 3 be about?
The previous season ended with Arisu, Usagi, Kuina, and Chishiya back in the real world with no recollections of what happened to them in Borderland. However, before the series ended, a Joker card was seen, hinting at the continuation of the story.
After facing the gamemasters, The Queen of Hearts, The King of Diamonds, The King of Clubs, and The King of Spades, the gamers have yet to face Joker. Joker is said to be an unknown entity who’s revealed to be the Borderland creator.
He made a brief appearance in the manga before Arisu returned home. Joker is implied to be the Grim Reaper after the reveal that Borderland is a concept of purgatory. Though he’s never seen in the first and second seasons, he may be the next boss to torment Arisu and his friends in Alice in Borderland Season 3.
So far, Netflix has yet to announce when Alice in Borderland Season 3 will be released. But as the series seems to be following December releases, it may hit the streamer in December 2024.
