Another K-drama is making its way on Netflix. The streamer has officially announced the coming of a new slice-of-life series with a working title When Life Gives You Tangerines, featuring the fan-favorite Korean stars IU and Park Bo-gum. But aside from these two A-listers, the show will feature stellar cast members.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Netflix shared a new series alert that would be written by the hit writer Lim Sang-chun, known for her works on Fight My Way and When the Camellia Blooms, and directed by Kim Won-seok, who’s behind the success of Misaeng: Incomplete Life, Signal, and My Mister. Aside from Bo-gum and IU, it will also star Moon So-ri (Three Sisters, Queenmaker, Race) and Park Hae-joon (My Mister, The World of the Married, 12.12: The Day).
What is When Life Gives You Tangerines about?
The series’ Korean title is written in Jeju dialect and translates to You Have Done Well. Set in the 1950s, When Life Gives You Tangerines will tell the stories of Ae Sun (IU) and Gwan Sik (Bo-gum), both born on Jeju Island. These two have opposite personalities. Ae is a rebellious and ambitious woman who will do everything to fight against her fate.
Alternatively, Gwan Sik is a man of action. He likes to express himself through actions instead of words. Despite the differences, Ae and Sik will find each other, and the latter will only have love for Ae. As they get older, their roles will be played by So-ri and Hae-joon.
