Matsuri Akai and Tōzai's isekai fantasy light novel series My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's is getting an anime adaptation, and it's scheduled to premiere in October 2025. The newly-launched website and official accounts for the upcoming TV anime series released the first trailer and visual, introducing the isekai fantasy's two leads: Akira Oda and Amelia Rosequartz. They are being voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka and Saku Mizuno, respectively. The trailer previews the anime's sword-and-sorcery action and high fantasy visuals. Character Description for Akira Oda:
A second-year high school student with a sharp gaze and an unapproachable aura. Though he appears indifferent to others, he deeply values his family and close friends. Despite being assigned the “Assassin” role, his stats surpass the Hero class. He wields the legendary katana “Yatono-Kami,” a relic of the first Hero.
Takeo Otsuka’s teased what to expect in the anime's first episode:

Character Description for Amelia Rosequart:
A royal elf princess and a Silver-rank adventurer. Known for her exceptional combat skills, Amelia is usually reserved and expressionless, but after being saved by Akira, she begins to show more emotions and warmth. She also has a notoriously large appetite.
Saku Mizuno teased how her character's expressions change throughout the story while sharing her own excitement for the anime:

Nobuyoshi Habara, who's known for directing the Fafner series, will direct My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's anime at studio Sunrise. Kunihiko Okada (Yowamushi Pedal) is in charge of the series composition; while Hirona Okada (Gundam Build Metaverse) and Kaoru Saito (Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury) are working on the character designs. Other staff includes: Satoshi Igarashi (TOKYO LOGIC) as the soundtrack composer, Rihiro Yamane (The Brave Express Might Gaine) as the monster designer, and Mitsuru Ishihara (Mega Man Battle Network) as the main animator.

What is My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's about?
The anime is based on the My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s (Asashin de Aru no Sutetasu ga Yusha Yori mo Akiraka ni Tsuyoi Nodaga) light novel series written by Matsuri Akai and illustrated by Tōzai. The isekai fantasy series began serliaization on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in January 2017. Overlap later acquired the series and started publishing it in print, with Tōzai's illustrations, in its Overlap Bunko imprint in November 2017, with four volumes released in Japan as of today.
In July 2018, the publisher's Comic Gardo website released a manga adaptation illustrated by Hiroyuki Aigamo., with the sixth volume scheduled to release in Japan on February 25, 2025. As of today, the entire series reached 1.5 million copies in circulation (including both print and digital).
