Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World is flying its way into theaters this Valentine's Day, and to remind anime and superhero fans about its release, Kohei Horikoshi's popular My Hero Academia franchise has announced an official collaboration with a special trailer and visual. With Steve Rogers retiring after the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's up to Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie) to take up the shield and battle against a gamma-powered threat to the United States of America. Now, My Hero Academia and the MCU are teaming-up together to bring the perfect anime hero: Hawks.

The video features narration by Yuichi Nakamura, the Japanese voice actor of Hawks, and Mizobata Junpei, the Japanese voice of Sam Wilson. The collaboration's description reads: “Two heroes who soar with the wings on their backs—Hawks and Captain America (Sam Wilson). A fusion of powerful lines and action scenes that showcase their determination.”

In My Hero Academia, Hawks (real name: Keigo Takami) is one of the youngest heroes to be ranked number two on Hero Society's top-ranking crime fighters' list. His Quirk gives him the ability to manipulate all the feathers that make up his wings, using them for attacking and defending during a battle. While the official crossover doesn't pit Hawks against the new Captain America, the two similar superheroes can be seen soaring the skies together for the first time ever.

What's next for My Hero Academia anime?

Alongside hyping up the next Marvel Cinematic Universe film, the crossover is also promoting the eighth and final season of My Hero Academia, which is scheduled to begin broadcasting later this year. Even though the villainous All For One made Keigo Takami lose his Quirk in the anime, we can expect Hawks to have a major role in the final season.

The upcoming My Hero Academia spin-off, titled My Hero Academia Vigilantes, will be released this April, and it features a unique Marvel crossover of its own. The original manga, written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court, introduced two new heroes that were clearly tributes to two of Marvel's most iconic mutants, Wolverine and Cyclops. While it's still unclear if these Marvel-inspired characters will show up in the anime series, there's a strong chance that these "homages" will appear in the spin-off anime.
