Developer NetEase has officially confirmed that Psylocke will be joining the roster of Marvel Rivals at launch. The reveal was shared on the official Marvel Rivals Discord over the weekend, giving fans an early look at the character, but the version that will be featured in the game is not the X-Men team member Betsy Braddock, or the current version of Kwannon. Instead, the version in Marvel Rivals is Sai, an alternate Earth's version of Psylocke that was initially introduced in Demon Days: X-Men. Sai was created by Peach Momoko, and the images revealed the writer/artist's influence on the character's design.
While Psylocke's abilities in Marvel Rivals are not officially revealed yet, the teaser suggests that she will have the ability to teleport and emerge from above with a diving slash. Netease will likely reveal more details in an upcoming gameplay trailer for Psylocke, and many are expecting that to be released during this year's Tokyo Game Show, which will take place from September 26 to 29.
One thing confirmed is that Sai will be voiced in Marvel Rivals by Alpha Takahashi. Following a tease from the official Marvel Rivals X account, Takahashi said, "guess who's joining the Marvel Universe." The voice actor previously did voice work for Cyberpunk 2077, Killer Instinct, and Starfield.

Psylocke previously appeared as a playable character in games such as Marvel vs. Capcom and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. Those versions were based on Betsy Braddock version of the character, so Sai's addition to the Marvel Rivals roster is the first time this version is featured in a game, and it makes sense considering that the multiverse plays an important role in the game's storyline. There are also alternate versions of other characters revealed, such as Peni Parker. Hopefully, this won't be the last time we see Sai in a videogame as reception on her design have been positive so far, and she's clearly a fan-favorite version of the X-Men character.
