On Tuesday's second anniversary screening at Sumida Aquarium, the staff of the original TV anime Lycoris Recoil have announced that the female-centric action series is getting six anime short films. The six short films will follow the daily lives of Chisato, Takina, and friends.
Each short film will feature different people in charge of directing and storyboarding, with director Shingo Adachi supervising them. The script will be handled by character designer Imigimuru. Release dates and other details for the 6 anime short films will be revealed at a later time. A screen cap was released along with the announcement:
In the announcement that was made at a special program for the anime's celebration of its 2nd anniversary, with the staff referring to the new project as shoto mubi (transliteration of the English words short film).
Back in February 2023, a new Lycoris Recoil anime project was announced, but that doesn't seem to be related to this project. According to Chika Anzai, the voice actress of Chisato, the short films will be released ahead of the new Lycoris Recoil anime project that was announced in February 2023, though exact dates have yet to be announced. She shared the following message on X, implying that the two are separate projects:

What is Lycoris Recoil about?
Created by Spider Lily and Asaura, Lycoris Recoil anime aired from July to September 2022 and consisted of 13 episodes, with Crunchyroll and Bilibili streaming overseas. The original girls-with-guns action anime also steamed an English dub, and it also aired on Adult Swim's Toonami block in January. Crunchyroll shared the following description for Lycoris Recoil:
For these peaceful days――there's a secret behind it all. A secret organization that prevents crimes: “DA - Direct Attack”. And their group of all-girl agents: “Lycoris”. This peaceful everyday life is all thanks to these young girls. The elite Chisato Nishikigi is the strongest Lycoris agent of all time. Alongside is Takina Inoue, the talented but mysterious Lycoris. They work together at one of its branches–Café LycoReco. Here, the orders this café takes range from coffee and sweets to childcare, shopping, teaching Japanese to foreign students, etc. It's mostly tasks unbefitting of Lycoris. The free-spirited and optimistic pacifist, Chisato. And the cool-headed and efficient Takina. The chaotic everyday lives of this mismatched duo begin!
A-1 Pictures was in charge of the animation of Lycoris Recoil, and featured Adachi's directorial debut. Before this anime, Adachi was the chief animation director and character designer for Sword Art Online Wagnaria!! (Working!!). Asaura (Shousetsu Knights of Sidonia: Kitto Arifureta Koi author) served as the story draft writer, and Yumiko Yamamoto (Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld co-character designer) was the sub-character designer.
