The production team of the TV anime adaptation of Tsukikage and Chyko's Tsukikage and Chyko's Let This Grieving Soul Retire! light novel series has revealed the main trailer, key visual, and additional cast. The trailer previews the fantasy comedy anime's opening theme song, Kattō Tomorrow (Conflict Tomorrow), performed by Lezel, as well as the ending theme song, Scream!, by Pmarusama. They will be joining leads Kenshō Ono and Miyu Kubota, who will play Krai Andrey and Tino Shade, respectively. The anime will is scheduled to premiere on October 1 at 11:30 p.m. (10:30 a.m. EDT) on the Tokyo MX and BS NTV channels, and it will also air on Sun Television.

Zero-G studio is producing the animation for Let This Grieving Soul Retire!, with Masahiro Takata (High-Rise Invasion, The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch, The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World) as the director. Saber Links is charge of the sound production while Zero-G is also credited as the sound director. Hideki Shirane (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Aria the Scarlet Ammo, Date A Live) is in charge of the series composition; Yūsuke Isouchi (Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It) and Shingo Fujisaki are the character designers; Ryōhei Sataka (Release the Spyce, D4DJ First Mix, Do It Yourself!!) is the music composer, and Avex Pictures is in charge of the music production.

What is Let This Grieving Soul Retire! about?

The upcoming anime is based on the light novel series Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Woe Is the Weakling Who Leads the Strongest Party (Japanese: (Nageki no Bōrei wa Intai Shitai: Saijaku Hunter ni Yoru Saikyō Party Ikusei-jutsu) written by Tsukikage and illustrated by Chyko. The comedy fantasy series began serialization as a web novel in the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website n January 2018. Micro Magazine later acquired the series, and in August 2018, it began publishing it under their GC Novels light novel imprint. The series also received a manga adaptation by by Rai Hebino, which began serialization on Kadokawa's ComicWalker manga site in April 2019.

J-Novel Club, the English publisher of the series, shared a plot description for Let This Grieving Soul Retire!:

It's the golden age for treasure hunters—adventurers hungry for wealth, fame, power, and glory, who risk their lives in treasure vaults throughout the world. “Let's become treasure hunters.” Krai and his childhood friends swore to become the greatest of them all, but that dream should have died the day Krai realized he wasn't cut out for the job! Yet expectations continue to mount, right along with Krai's fear for his life. While his childhood friends climb closer toward their dream, this grieving soul has one simple wish: to pack it all in and retire!

Kadokawa published Volume 9 of the manga adaptation on February 26, and it's set to publish Volume 10 on September 27, 2024. Yen Press is set to publish the English-language edition of the manga's eighth volume on August 27.
