After 12 years, Sawako Kuronuma and Shota Kazehaya will be back in Kimi ni Todoke Season 3. The anime has officially announced the show’s return, and this time, it will be seen worldwide on Netflix. As this excites fans, here’s everything you need to know about this hit romance anime.

Based on the Japanese manga of the same name by Karuho Shiina, it was published from 2005 to 2017 on Shueisha in Bessatsu Margaret, collecting 30 tankōbon volumes. Production I.G. adapted it into anime for two seasons, with the final episode being released in January 2011. It also has a live-action adaptation by TV Tokyo and Netflix, released in March 2023. And now, after a long hiatus, Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 will finally be released.

What is Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 about?

The story introduction on the anime’s official website teased that Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 will be about Sawako, who will face her fears and finally reveal her love to Kazehaya despite being confused by her feelings. Luckily, Kazehaya feels the same thing. He’s also attracted to Sawako and has been working hard secretly, knowing he doesn’t have a pleasing personality.

He has managed to tell his feelings to Kawako straight to her face. From there, a new relationship begins between the two. You can read the Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 synopsis below:

My first date, my student life as a lover. Happy things, embarrassing things, and new troubles. Innocent and awkward, the love story of two people who get to know each other little by little and their friends who start to move. The sweet, sour and sad story of these boys and girls, woven together by their feelings of love and irreplaceable friends, begins again.

Who is in the cast of Kimi ni Todoke Season 3?

So far, the anime has only revealed two cast members for Kimi ni Todoke Season 3. After over a decade, Mamiko Noto and Daisuke Namikawa return to reprise their roles as Sawako and Kazehaya.

Like fans, Mamiko revealed she was surprised when she heard the news about the anime's third season. Though she’s indeed happy, she knows it’s a big responsibility to play this role, considering fans' anticipation for this series. “I want to face the ten years without hesitation and the joy of being able to be a part of this wonderful and wonderful work called Kimi ni Todoke,” she said.

Alternatively, Daisuke admitted he panicked after being tapped to voice Kazehaya again. As one of the series’ original voice actors, he said he has “strong feelings” for this project, though he was worried if he would still remember how it felt when he did the anime for the first time. Daisuke also teased that they had finished recording some dubbing for Kimi ni Todoke Season 3.
