Beauty in the Beast now has its final name in Korea. Kim Min-ju revealed at Netf-Janchi in Seoul on Saturday that the fantasy campus romance has locked in its final Korean title, which translates as "Wolf Girl," ending the series' run under a working title.
Kim Min-ju took the stage at Netflix's "What Next?" showcase alongside Moon Sang-min and Lomon, the three leads of the series. She teased that the new title carries a double meaning: "Just as Min-su has the secret of turning into a wolf, the Wolf Girl has a secret of her own."
Kim plays Ha Min-su, a college freshman who has spent her life suppressing and hiding her true self after years of rigorous training to control her wolf instincts. Her biggest dream since childhood was simply going to university, where she had heard you make friends and hang out with them every day.
Moon Sang-min plays Kwon Hae-jun, Min-su's university senior, whose stern face hides a gentle, soft-hearted nature that has earned the character a "big puppy" nickname. Lomon plays Lee Do-ha, a fellow werewolf and one of the few of their kind left on Earth, whose free-spirited pull stands in contrast to the restrained life Min-su has been trained to live.
Where Min-su bottles everything up, Do-ha acts first and thinks later, and her tightly controlled emotions both frustrate him and make him protective of her. Hae-jun, meanwhile, normally keeps to himself, yet he cannot help noticing how unpredictably Min-su behaves around him.
Netflix greenlit the series in January 2026 as a fantasy romance that traces Min-su's coming-of-age as campus life throws her between the steady warmth of Hae-jun and the pull of Do-ha. It is directed by Jin Hyuk, known for The Tale of Lady Ok, Sisyphus: The Myth and Legend of the Blue Sea, and written by Jin Han-sae of Extracurricular and Glitch, with Studio 329 producing.
The series is a modern fantasy spin on the classic fairy tale setup, built around a heroine who becomes beastly when her emotions surge. Min-su transforms when her feelings overwhelm the control she has trained for years to keep, which makes ordinary campus life — and first love — a constant risk.
The Janchi stage was a double appearance for Lomon, who also presented All of Us Are Dead Season 2 earlier in the same showcase. Kim Min-ju's recent credits include Hear Me: Our Summer, Undercover High School and Connection, while Moon Sang-min is known for Under the Queen's Umbrella, Wedding Impossible and Cinderella at 2AM.
Filming on the series is underway. No release date was announced at the showcase, and the series is expected in 2027, when Beauty in the Beast will stream on Netflix.
