Kevin Feige Reveals X-Men Will Make MCU Debut & How Avengers 6 Will Lead Into "A New Age Of Mutants"

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige hypes up the X-Men's MCU debut.

While Marvel Studios is still developing the X-Men movie reboot, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already getting ready to feature the mutants. There are multiple Marvel projects coming in the next few years, and even though updates have been limited about plans for the X-Men in the MCU, a new reveal from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige may be teasing some exciting things to come in Phases 5 and 6.

During a live virtual appearance at the opening of the Disney APAC Showcase (via Deadline), which was held in Singapore, Feige hyped up the near future of the MCU. The Marvel Studios head started out talking about The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is scheduled to release on July 25, 2025. Then he teased that fans may see the beloved X-Men before the conclusion of The Multiverse Saga, as they will lead into the "age of mutants".

While Feige didn't share any details about the highly-anticipated X-Men movie reboot, he teased the coming developments on the X-Men side of things: “I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize. Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.”

Even though The Multiverse Saga hasn't focused on the traditional X-Men team itself, mutants have slowly been appearing in the MCU. Characters such as Namor and Ms. Marvel were already revealed as mutants while Kelsey Grammer and Patrick Stewart already reprised their X-Men roles as Beast and Professor X. Feige previously revealed that the mutants would be important after Avengers: Secret Wars, but his latest comments confirm that Marvel Studios has big plans to set up the X-Men during Phase 6.

Feige also talked about Deadpool & Wolverine: "When we first started working on the film for the first time, we wanted to see Wolverine in a yellow costume,” he said. “I had goosebumps on set when he walked out wearing that costume and put on that mask for the first time. I’ve been waiting 25 years to bring that to life.”

MCU's Phase 7 will likely focus on the "age of mutants" that Feige mentioned, and Avengers: Secret Wars will likely set that up. It will be interesting to see who Marvel Studios will cast for the MCU's X-Men movie reboot, as well as the directors and writers that will be involved in future Marvel projects.
