On Saturday, a countdown on the website for an upcoming Kaiju No. 8 project ended with the reveal of its first official trailer (at the same time as the tenth episode of Kaiju No. 8 anime ended). The trailer revealed that the new project is an official game for the PC and smartphones. The game is tentatively titled Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, and it's currently being developed by Akatsuki Games. You can watch the trailer for Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME below, and although it doesn't reveal any gameplay footages as this is a more cinematic look, it's nice to see Kikoru Shinomiya here:
Akatsuki Games haven't revealed gameplay details for Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME yet, but it's confirmed that it will be available on Google Play, Apple’s App Store and Steam. A teaser visual has also been revealed for the game:
Production I.G is animating the ongoing TV anime adaptation of Kaiju No. 8, with character designs and artworks by Studio Khara. The anime is being directed by Shigeyuki Miya, with Ichiro Okouchi in charge of the series composition and screenplay. Tetsuya Nishio is the chief animation director and character designer, Mahiro Maeda is the monster designer, Shinji Kimura is the art director, and Yuta Bando is the music composer.

What is Kaiju No. 8 about?
The Kaiju No. 8 anime is based on the manga series of the same title (Japanese: Kaijū Hachigō) by Naoya Matsumoto. The science fantasy series began serialization on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ and as of December 2023, the chapters have been collected in 12 volumes. Viz Media, which holds the English license of the manga in North America, shared a plot description for Kaiju No. 8:
Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
