Despite the unexpected appearance of a new villain in the previous episode, the Defense Force member selection exam has finally ended. Kikoru Shinomiya has led the fight against the monsters and has proven herself worthy to be a part of the army. Though her position in the Defense Force is already sealed, it remains to be seen what the fate of Kafka Hibino will be as the preview for Kaiju No. 8 Episode 5, titled Join the Army!, shows the new Defense Force members ceremony.

You can see the trailer below:

The Kaiju No. 8 Episode 5 trailer shows Kafka and Reno Ichikawa receiving the final Defense Force member selection exam result. Though afraid, the two bravely open the envelope. The scene then shifts to the headquarters, with Soshino Hoshina thinking there’s something different about Kafka after looking at his profile.

Mina Ashiro then enters the hall, announcing she will appoint all 27 Defense Force member aspirants. Kikoru then appears, saying, “I will kill you,” though it isn’t revealed who she is trying to warn. The group is back on the street, seemingly performing their first duty. Reno aims at someone or something, while the trailer ends focusing on Mina and Kafka’s faces.

Alternatively, the preview stills for Kaiju No. 8 Episode 5 show Aoi Kaguragi looking at Haruichi Izumo while the ceremony takes place and Iharu Furuhashi with his shark-like grin. Kafka appears happy, while Kikoru seems to be mocking Reno and Iharu, who are incredibly mad at her. Hoshina looks dubious as he seemingly eyes someone at the back. For the last still, Mina leads the appointment of new Defense Force members.
