Sony Pictures has released the second trailer for Jumanji: Open World, and the final film in the trilogy is turning the series' setup inside out. This time the game itself escapes into the real world, unleashing its creatures and characters on the players who thought they had left it behind.
The trailer shows Alex Wolff's Spencer Gilpin dealing with the fallout after someone accidentally frees every hero and villain trapped inside the console. While chaos spills into reality, a new quartet of players is pulled into the game to survive in their avatars, led by Dwayne Johnson's Dr. Smolder Bravestone.
That split story gives the finale two fronts at once. The new players face the game's dangers from the inside, while Spencer and the returning cast confront creatures and villains who were never meant to exist outside it.

Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan are all back as the avatars at the center of the adventure. The returning cast also includes Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, Morgan Turner, Ser'Darius Blain and Madison Iseman, with Marin Hinkle and Burn Gorman among the new additions to the ensemble.
The final game brings the avatars face-to-face with their players
The new footage leans into a first for the modern films: the avatars come face-to-face with the human players in the real world. That meeting flips the dynamic the previous two films were built on, where the players only ever existed inside the game wearing their avatars' faces.
Jake Kasdan returns to direct after helming the previous two installments, and he co-wrote the screenplay with returning writers Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. The film is based on the book Jumanji by Chris Van Allsburg, and it closes out the trilogy after a seven-year wait for the next chapter.
That premise also brings the modern series full circle to the original story's idea, where the game's dangers spilled into an ordinary home. The difference this time is scale: instead of one house, the whole world has become the board, and the heroes who once escaped the jungle now have to protect a reality that was never built for its rules.
The finale carries real stakes for the cast as well as the characters. Johnson, Hart, Black and Gillan have played these avatars across three films now, and the trailer plays their reunion as an emotional sprint toward the end of the story rather than just another round.
Sony is billing the finale with the tagline "Our world. New rules. One final game." Jumanji: Open World opens in theaters on December 25, 2026, landing in a crowded Christmas corridor alongside Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday.
