Gege Akutami's best-selling Jujutsu Kaisen manga series is coming to an end in just a few weeks. On Monday, the official X account of the shonen franchise announced that the manga will end in just 5 chapters. The final chapter will be published in this year's 44th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on September 30, 2024. You can check the official announcement confirming that the series only has 5 chapters remaining before it officially ends in the tweet below:

The ending was also announced during Shueisha's Jump Press livestream video on Monday.

Jujutsu Kaisen manga officially launched in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2018. On July 5, Shueisha published the manga's 27th compiled book volume. The manga is also being published by Shueisha on its MANGA Plus service, and Viz Media is publishing it in print and digitally.

During last December's Jump Festa '24 event, Akutami shared a handwritten comment that hinted the end of his manga coming in 2024: "This will probably definitely be the last Jump Festa where Jujutsu Kaisen is still in serialization".

The first season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime adaptation premiered in October 2020, and was produced by Studio MAPPA.

When is Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 potentially coming?

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, which will adapt the Culling Game arc of the manga, was officially confirmed after Season 2 of the anime adaptation concluded last December. The second season covered the Shibuya Incident Arc of Akutami's best-selling manga series. Studio MAPPA produced the animation for the first two seasons, and the studio is expected to return to animate Season 3.

Given the scope of the anime's next story arc, fans can expect a similarly sized season and, sadly, a similar wait to gap between the first two seasons (around two years). An official release window for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 hasn't been announced yet, but given that MAPPA is working on other anime projects, including the Chainsaw Man feature film, sometime in 2025 might be the earliest release window, but 2026 may be more realistic. We'll keep you updated here on Epicflix once we get an official update from the anime's staff.
