We are going to meet yet another new Man of Steel soon. It was already announced that David Corenswet will take over as Clark Kent in Superman: Legacy. But how old is Clark Kent in the upcoming DC Studios project? James Gunn has finally revealed the age of the new Superman and why it was necessary to replace Henry Cavill.

In 2022, James Gunn confirmed that he will be directing a new Superman movie. Although it was initially believed to be Man of Steel 2, Henry Cavill later announced that he will no longer return as the Kryptonian. Gunn also confirmed that Superman: Legacy will focus on the superhero's younger years.

But was it necessary to recast Cavill in the first place? When it was announced that The Politician star David Corenswet is playing the new Superman, fans were confused since there didn't look to be a huge difference in age between him and Cavill.

Luckily, James Gunn has finally addressed the Superman casting, confirming the age of Corenswet's Superman in Legacy. He responded to a fan asking about Superman's age on BlueSky Social, confirming that the Young Man of Steel will be the actor's age in the film.

David Corenswet is currently 29 years old and will be 31 by the time Superman: Legacy comes out in 2025. This pretty much confirms that the new Clark Kent is going to be a full decade younger than Cavill, who is now 40 years old (42 in 2025).

In June, it was announced that David Corenswet will take over as Clark Kent. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan was also cast as Clark's love interest Lois Lane in the Superman reboot. They are the only two names attached to the project so far but we are looking forward to casting updates later this year.
