Singer-songwriter TOMOO will perform the ending theme song Fumi Zekka for Hirayasumi, giving the gentle slice-of-life anime its closing sound. The pick adds one of Japan's most in-demand tie-up artists to a series built around quiet, everyday moments.

The announcement came through the official website of Hirayasumi, which confirmed TOMOO as the ending theme artist. The reveal is the latest piece of the anime's rollout, following its earlier teaser footage, main visual and lead casting news.

Born in Tokyo, TOMOO began playing piano at the age of six and started writing original songs in middle school. She made her major debut in August 2022 with the digital single Osero, and she has since handled tie-up songs for numerous dramas, films and anime, including Blue Box.

Her first solo concert at Nippon Budokan in May 2025 sold out, underlining how quickly her audience has grown. Her deep, distinctive voice is a natural match for a story that finds its drama in ordinary days rather than big twists.

TOMOO's tie-up work ranges across Japanese entertainment, from television dramas to a Crayon Shin-chan theatrical film. That range has made her one of the most sought-after singer-songwriters working in Japanese screen music today.

Kei Suezawa directs Hirayasumi at Production +h, and he also handles the series composition and scripts. Naoyuki Asano is designing the characters, with Mika Nishimura serving as art director.

Kaori Sawada is composing the music for the series. The anime is a co-production between VIZ Media and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions Co., Ltd.

The anime has already been seen by a small audience ahead of its broadcast run. Its first episode screened at Japan Society in New York on October 7, 2026, followed by a question-and-answer session with producer Junichi Katsutani and composer Kaori Sawada.

What is Hirayasumi about?

Hirayasumi is based on Keigo Shinzo's slice-of-life drama manga, which has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine since April 2021. Ten volumes have been released in Japan to date, and VIZ Media publishes the manga in English.

The manga was nominated for the Manga Grand Prize at the 2023 Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize and won the Best Serialized Comic Award at Lucca Comics & Games in 2024, and it has also won at the Shogakukan Manga Awards. The story has reached the screen before, in a 20-episode live-action drama that aired on NHK General TV from November to December 2025.

VIZ Media describes the series as follows:

At 29 years old, carefree Hiroto Ikuta doesn't have a girlfriend, a full-time job, or a plan for the future—and he couldn't be happier. Hiroto's breezy attitude isn't easy for everyone to understand, though. In a world filled with anxiety, confusion, and grief, Hiroto and the people around him are all just doing their best to figure out this thing called life.
