We already know that Pete Davidson made an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but the film used CGI to cover his face up. However, the recently-unveiled deleted scene from the sequel confirms that the Suicide Squad star filmed a sequence without any special effects.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Pete Davidson played Phlektik, a creation of the High Evolutionary who captures Star-Lord and the gang. It's a small but awesome cameo that pleased fans and is another confirmation that Davidson has great comedic timing.
However, it looks like Pete Davidson filmed more scenes as Phlektik but the footage didn't end up in the final cut of the film. The unfinished deleted scene features Chris Pratt's Star-Lord in a hilarious interaction with Davidson's Phlektik.
It's great to know that Davidson filmed more scenes for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 although he only had a day to shoot his sequences. Hopefully, there will be more previously-unreleased scenes from the sequel that will surface soon. Although James Gunn claimed that there are not a lot of unused scenes, we could see more of the ones he didn't add to the film in the future.
Pete Davidson isn't the only actor from The Suicide Squad to have a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The film also featured Daniela Melchior who made an appearance as Ura, a receptionist at Orgocorp who gets caught up in the Guardians' efforts to find Rocket's file. It was initially believed that the Ratcatcher 2 actor will play Phyla-Vell. However, the character was portrayed by child actor Kai Zen.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was directed by James Gunn, who is known for hiring the same actors in most of his work. For instance, Michael Rooker has appeared in almost all of his projects and even had a cameo as Yondu Udonta in the third Guardians movie.
