GTA 6 is finally official, with the first trailer coming out at the beginning of December. Rockstar Games certainly took their time with this game since it has almost been a decade since the last Grand Theft Auto game came out.

Even now that they have confirmed the game’s existence, the developers at Rockstar Games are staying tight-lipped about any and all details. However, this hasn’t stopped game enthusiasts from closely following every step of Rockstar Games and finding out as much about the game as they can, including the game’s expected price.

CEO Of Rockstar’s Parent Company On Game Prices

In a recent interview, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, expressed his opinion on how their game should be priced. He presented his view, stating that video games nowadays are priced really low for the amount of content they offer, so there’s a lot of room for increasing prices.

Along with this insight, he also presented a solution that the games should be priced on a “per-hour” basis. This means that instead of paying an up-front fee and owning the game forever, as you can nowadays with most games, you will be charged for the amount of time you spend playing the game.

Will GTA 6 be more expensive than usual?

Although Zelnick said that games should be priced differently, GTA 6 will likely not have a higher price than normal. This is because, while presenting his views, he also stated that this strategy cannot be implemented into their game, hence making GTA one of the best value-for-money games on the market. Zelnick also referred to the last price increase to $70 in 2022 while stating that this is the maximum they can hope to charge for their game.

Will GTA 6 have microtransactions?

Since the developers likely won’t be increasing the base price of GTA 6, according to CEO Strauss Zelnick, we can be almost certain that the game will feature microtransactions. This is because Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online both benefitted heavily from their microtransactions, earning Rockstar Games millions. Since this method of monetization has proven to be so effective for Rockstar Games, it would make sense for it to be implemented in the upcoming GTA game.
