The official website of Shigeru Sagazaki's fantasy light novel series, From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, has revealed its first trailer, new visual, and cast details. The new video introduces protagonist Beryl Gardinan and the characters he'll meet in his adventures. The fantasy TV anime is scheduled to premiere in April 2025. Studios Passione and Hayabusa Film are producing the animation for From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, with Akio Kazumi (Loner Life in Another World, Fist of the Blue Sky Regenesis) as director. Kunihiko Okada (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy, By the Grace of the Gods season 2) is in charge of the anime's scripts while Satsuki Hayasaka (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy, Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki) serves as the character designer and chief animation director. Yasuharu Takanashi (Baki Hanma vs. Kengan Ashura, Fairy Tail) is the music composer.

The fantasy anime is based on the From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman: My Hotshot Discples Are All Grown Up Now and They Won't Leave Me Alone From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman (Japanese: Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru: Tada no Inaka no Kenjutsu Shihan Datta noni, Taisei Shita Deshitachi ga Ore o Hōttekurenai Ken) light novel series written by Shigeru Sagazaki and illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. The series initially began serialization on user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in November 2020 before Square Enix acquired the rights to publish it under their SQEX Novel Imprint in April 2021.
A manga adaptation of the series, illustrated by Kazuki Sato, began serialization in Akita Shoten's manga web magazine Dokodemo Young Champion in August 2021. The official website also announcd that the franchise is getting a spin-off manga titled Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru Gaiden: Hajimari no Mahō Kenshi (From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Spinoff: The Beginning of a Magic Swordsman) that will be released on Square Enix's Manga UP! service on November 29.
