After successfully defeating the Red Dragon in the previous episode, Stark, Frieren, and Fern are about to meet a new villain in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Episode 7. The anime has now dropped the new episode’s preview stills, introducing Lugner, a demon member of Aura the Guillotine that serves the Demon King.

Warning: The following content contains major spoilers. Read at your own risk.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Episode 6 featured the fight of Stark against the Red Dragon without Frieren or Fern’s help. Sure, he doubted his ability, but his extraordinary strength proved he was a great warrior, just like his mentor, Eisen. From there, the three started a new journey to the North but stopped after a dangerous fight against the remnants of the Demon King’s army. But when the town’s leader learned about Frieren’s journey, he let the party pass.

As seen in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Episode 7 stills, released by the anime’s official website, the three have safely arrived in the town. In the first preview, Fern, Frieren, and Stark share a good meal, while another features an image of a young Himmel in front of his statue. The next still features Lugner with two other companions, who seem to be looking at something on the ground.

Frieren is also seen looking tired and sleepy as she appears lying face down on the floor. The last still looks like a flashback scene, as the mage points her wand at an unknown individual with evil horns while Himmel, Eisen, and Heiter are behind her.

It even happens the day before the Liberation Festival begins. This town is the same place that Frieren and Himmel protected from the demons in the past.

Hence, a bronze statue of Himmel stands here, making her remember her loyal friend. However, she will be later seen pointing her cane at a mysterious individual. Will it be Lugner?
